clinicals

So I really can't tell you that much about my clinicals... what with confidentialiy laws and such, but just to give you all a taste of what it is like to be at my clinicals I will share the follwoing story. So my suprivisor and I are going through a check list and she is telling me tests that they do and test that they don't. Then she names of a couple test and is all like "of course we don't do these" kind of in a "how absurd would that be" tone. Curiously I tilt my head and squint my eyes and I ask "well, why wouldn't we run those test, aren't they pretty easy and routine". She does one of those head tilts and half smile and continues slowly "Well...sense dixon has such a low african american population those test just really arn't worth our time or money to offer." To this I responded with a head jerk and a try at a quick recovery. I mean dixon seriously has such a low ethic population that the hospital I am at actually dosen't run certain test. All I can say is Wow... our very white mayor should really do something about opening up our community to be more ethically diverse. Lets just say that I'll try and do my part by dating any men with dark skin! Oh and a holla out to trisha- who I'm sure is the only one that reads this- I really only have time to blog on thursday so I wouldn't bother checking any other days! love ya! Tina
